BROKEN ARROW, Oklahoma – The Northwest Missouri State University women’s golf team produced a 13-shot improvement in day two and placed 11th at the 22nd annual Northeastern State University Women’s Golf Classic.
The 36-hole event took place at The Club at Indian Springs. It was played on a par-72 course at 5,917 yards.
Northwest shot a second-round team total of 308 (+20) and rounded out the two-day tournament with a tally of 629 (+53). The team score of 308 is the lowest for the Bearcats since a first-round posting of 308 at the Central Region Preview at Muskogee Country Club on Oct. 16, 2018.
The Bearcats two-round team score of 629 is the lowest the team has shot since posting 626 at the Augustana Invitational on Sept. 29-30, 2018.
Sophomore Elly Speece totaled three birdies on Tuesday for a final round 74 (+2). Speece secured birdies on No. 1, No. 11 and No. 15. Speece tied for 37th in the field with a two-round score of 155. Speece shot an even par score of 36 on the back nine Tuesday.
Senior Morgan Thiele recorded the best finish for the Bearcats in the tournament with a tie for 34th. Thiele shot 77 on day two that featured a birdie on No. 1. Thiele fired a 37 (+1) on the back nine to open her round.
Senior Mady Acers secured a pair of birdies on her round at No. 1 and No. 7. Acers shot a final round 78 (+6) and finished tied for 64th.
Senior Anna Zech tallied a birdie on No. 18 and completed her round with a 79. Zech tied for 58th in the tournament.
