The Northwest Missouri State track and field teams wrapped up day one of competition at the MIAA Championships in Pittsburg, Kansas.
Hiba Mahgoub led the women’s team by qualifying in the 200m and 400m dash. Mahgoub qualified second in both events, running :24.10 in the 200m and :56.32 in the 400m. The 400m dash finals are scheduled for 3:35 p.m. tomorrow afternoon and the 200m finals are set for 4:55 p.m.
Quincy McSweeney had the fastest qualifying time in the 800m run (2:12.44) with teammates Bailey Blake (2nd, 2:13.19) and Delanie Dykes (5th, 2:13.29) also qualifying for the final section that is set to being at 4:15 p.m.
Ally Hammond also qualified for finals in the women’s 100m hurdles, running for 7th in :14.27. Hammond also ran for 10th in the 100m dash in :12.02, just :0.04 from qualifying. Kyah Luhring placed 17th in :12.29 as well. Olivia Sattlefield qualified 7th for the 400m hurdle finals in 1:04.35. The 100m hurdles are scheduled for 3:15 p.m. and the 400m hurdles will begin at 4:35 p.m.
Jada Shanklin scored points by taking fourth place in the high jump (1.71m, 5-07.25). Randi Overkamp and Luhring placed 11th and 17th, respectively, in the long jump.
Tiffany Hughey ran for 13th (:25.16) in the 200m dash and eighth in the 400m dash (:57.24). Hughey will run in the 400m dash finals at 3:35 p.m. tomorrow.
Keely Danielsen placed ninth in the 10,000m run in 40:16.47. Sarah Prickett also finished 13th in the 100m hurdles in :14.91. Alexis Whitaker took 15th in the women’s 400m hurdles in 1:08.89 while Lauryn Hill finished 14th in the high jump (1.58m). Josie Zeiger also took 15th in the javelin (36.30m).
On the men’s side, Caelon Harkey and Tyrell Maddox both qualified for the men’s 400m dash finals, Harkey running :48.01 to qualify first while Maddox ran :48.50 to qualify fourth. The final section will be run at 3:45 p.m.
Prince Griffin and Federico Crisci also placed in the 400m dash. Griffin ran for ninth place in :49.18 while Crisci placed 11th in :49.35.
Abdelrahim Mahgoub qualified for the 800m run finals, running 1:55.20 to qualify fourth. Finals will be run at 4:25 p.m. tomorrow afternoon. Jevaughn Stanley also qualified for the men’s 100m dash in :10.62 to qualify eighth.
Cliff Nichols placed ninth in the 800m run (1:55.42) while Raheem Williams took 16th in 1:56.38). Corbin Smith finished 12th in the 400m hurdles in :55.48.
In the men’s 10,000m run, Jacob Nkamasiai placed fourth in 31:17.04 while Fedrick Kipyego was seventh in 31:48.99. Augostine Lisoreng was 12th in 32:46.48.
Dakota Schmidt placed eighth in the javelin with a throw of 208-00.75 (63.42m).
