One of my favorite things to do is visit with leaders in North Missouri and see some of the incredible things that are happening in my district.
Women’s Advisory Council
I hosted a Women’s Advisory Council lunch earlier this week. This was a great opportunity to hear from some outstanding leaders in our area who are doing great things for their communities. My thanks to all who attended and our great panel who provided tremendous insight into how they got to where they are today and what motivates them in their respective fields.
|Northland Career Center
I recently had the opportunity to visit the Northland Career Center, located on the campus of Platte County High School. Workforce development is a serious issue facing our country right now and they are doing a tremendous job of training the next generation. Many of their students already have good-paying jobs lined up when they graduate. It was good to see the numerous programs they offer like Industrial Welding, Agricultural Sciences, Construction Technology, Culinary Arts, and my personal favorite, Aviation Technology. That’s just a few of the programs they offer students from around the Northland.
Zimmer Biomet is a growing company that makes surgical fluid disposal systems. The diversity of products manufactured is North Missouri is incredible.
|KC Levees Celebration
This year’s flooding has made it even more clear that flood control must be a priority. I was honored to be a part of the celebration of the Bi-State Levee Project. The $453 million project is a great example of local, state and federal entities working together for the good of the whole community. This investment will do great things for the Kansas City area and I was proud to champion this in Congress.
|While we do face challenges in my district, such as flooding, there are many great things happening here as well. It’s an honor to represent North Missouri.
