The Northwest Missouri State University women’s golf team will open up its 2019 season at the Central Region Fall Preview on Tuesday.
The Bearcats will compete at the Adams Pointe Golf Club in Blue Springs, Missouri. The 36-hole event will conclude on Wednesday.
The Bearcat squad set the single-season school record for scoring with a 319.1 stroke average in 2018-19. The Bearcats bested the previous mark by 12 shots (331.1 – 2017-18).
Junior Morgan Thiele returns after a runner-up finish at the 2018 MIAA Championship meet. Thiele earned all-MIAA honors and set the Northwest single-season stroke average record at 78.9 in 2018-19. Thiele enters the season with the program’s best all-time career scoring mark (80.76 stroke average).
Also returning to the course this year for the Bearcats are senior Bekah Donner (85.25 stroke average), junior Mady Acers (80.94 stroke average), junior Spencer Roach (played in two tournament) and junior Anna Zech (81.40 stroke average.
Head coach Andy Peterson added freshman Lauren Wood (Overland Park, Kansas/Blue Valley HS) in the offseason.
