KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The MIAA announced its preseason coaches poll for the 2019 women’s soccer season. The Association’s 2018 regular season and tournament champion, Central Oklahoma was picked as the preseason favorite. The Bronchos earned 117 points and received seven first-place votes.
UCO narrowly edged out Central Missouri for the top spot. The Jennies were picked second with 115 points and five first-place votes after winning the NCAA Central Regional title last season. Fort Hays State was tabbed in third place with 93 points as Emporia State was fourth with 89 points. Missouri Western rounded out the top five with 84 points.
Roger State, who begins its first season in the MIAA as an associate member, was selected to finish sixth followed by Northeastern State in seventh. Newman, who also joined the Association as an associate member this season, came in eighth place. Washburn was picked ninth with Nebraska Kearney slotted at 10th. Missouri Southern and Northwest Missouri tied for 11th to round out the preseason poll.
The first matches for the 2019 season get underway on Thursday, September 5 with conference matches set to begin on Sunday, September 29. To see the complete schedule for each team in the MIAA, please click here.
