Mosaic Medical Center – Maryville & Albany Now Have Special Access To Mayo Clinic Services (Audio)

Tuesday Mosaic Medical Center – Maryville in partnership with Mosaic in Albany announced the two facilities as a part of the Mayo Clinic Network.  Mosaic Medical Center – Maryville President Nate Blackford (says the application process was an intense that starts with 10-15 pages and when finished was 300 pages).

Blackford says Mosaic was an early member of the Mayo Network which helped Maryville getting the designation (He adds the patient can receive the same care locally at no extra cost).

Blackford adds there are only 43 member affiliations in the Mayo Clinic Network.

St. Joseph, MO — After successfully completing a rigorous evaluation process, Mosaic Medical Center – Maryville (MMCM) and Mosaic Medical Center – Albany (MMCA) now have access to the tools and services offered through the Mayo Clinic Care Network. The two medical centers join Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph which became a member of the network seven years ago.

“Collaboration with Mayo Clinic is great for our patients and gives Mosaic doctors more tools to provide comprehensive specialty care right here in our communities,” said Nate Blackford, president of MMCM. “Our local doctors can combine their expert understanding of our patients’ unique medical needs with Mayo Clinic expertise, enhancing the care of patients, close to home.”

The medical centers now have access to the latest Mayo Clinic knowledge and promotes physician collaboration that complements local expertise. Mosaic is one of more than 40 independent health systems worldwide that has been carefully vetted by Mayo Clinic and granted special access to their knowledge and resources.

“It has been exciting and beneficial for us to add new technologies and capabilities as we have grown over the past few years,” said Jon Doolittle, president of MMCA. “We are very excited for our hospital and clinics to have special access to Mayo Clinic  and make this type of access conveniently available for our patients locally.”

With access to the tools and services of the Mayo Clinic Care Network, MMCM and MMCA will work with Mayo to share medical knowledge and collaborate in ways that will benefit patients and the community. Network products and services include:

Through electronic consultation requests, Mosaic specialists can work directly with Mayo specialists on questions related to complex cases, so that more patients can avoid unnecessary travel and gain peace of mind.

Use of this Web-based medical resource gives Mosaic providers instant access to concise Mayo-vetted information on care guidelines, treatment recommendations and reference materials for medical conditions.

 

  • Health Care Consulting:

Mosaic can tap into Mayo Clinic experience with practice, operational and business models to learn more about how they were designed and implemented.

 

  • eBoards:

Interactive Mayo Clinic conferences enable Mosaic providers to present and discuss management of complex cases with a multidisciplinary panel of Mayo specialists and other network members. Current offerings include access to Mayo’s eTumor Boards, as well as an Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) eBoard.

Mosaic providers also have access to Mayo’s extensive library of patient education materials and can view archived grand rounds that feature presentations by Mayo physicians and scientists.
