Downtown Maryville Closed Friday Due To Suspicious Package In US Bank Lot

Around noon Friday Maryville Public Safety closed a two block area around the US Bank Main Street location after a package was found in the bank’s parking lot.

A man was later detained after review of US Bank security video.

The “suspicious package” was a pressure cooker that was left in the US Bank parking lot after a private transaction involving a vehicle.  The seller removed the item and left it there for pickup later.  The ATF, Missouri State Patrol & Nodaway County Sheriff’s Office assisted.  A bomb disposal robot was flown in from Jefferson City and confirmed no threat.  The roads reopened around 6:30.
