Pickering Teen Faces Animal Abuse Charge After Killing Dog

A 17 year old teen from Pickering is facing a felony animal abuse charge from an incident that occurred in April of this year.  Lincoln J Pope allegedly hung a dog to death owned by in residence in Hopkins by wrapping a cable around its neck.  Nodaway County Prosecutor Robert Rice filed charges July 28th.  Pope was released from jail after posting $5,000 bond.  A conviction would mean no less than 2 years and up to 4 years in prison with fines of up to $10,000.
