Couple Selected As Grand Marshals Of Chamber Ambassador Nodaway County Fair Parade

Dave & Heidi Weigel have been selected to be Grand Marshals of the Chamber Ambassador Nodaway County Fair Parade July 21st.  The Weigel’s moved to Maryville in 1981 from North Dakota.

Maryville, MO – In just a few weeks on Saturday, July 21, spectators will gather at 9:30 a.m., along 4th Street and Buchanan Streets to enjoy the Chamber Ambassador Nodaway County Fair Parade, sponsored by the Maryville Chamber Ambassadors.

The Chamber Ambassadors are proud to announce that leading the parade this year will be Grand Marshals Dave and Heidi Weigel.

Dave & Heidi moved to Maryville in 1981 from North Dakota.  Dave worked as an agent for Shelter Insurance, retiring January 1, 2017.  Heidi worked 10 years for Pamida, then 24 years at Bank Midwest in document support, retiring January 2, 2018.  Dave & Heidi have 3 children, April, Halie & Miranda, son-in-law, Matt Graham and 2 grandchildren, Owen & Maggie.

Dave & Heidi have been involved with the Chamber of Commerce almost continuously since moving to Maryville. Dave served numerous times as Ambassador Supreme and on the Chamber of Commerce Board, and served as chair of the Nodaway County Fair Parade Committee.  He received the Chamber Distinguished Service Award for 1993 & 2016.  Dave and Heidi also spent countless hours organizing Chamber of Commerce socials over the years.

The Chamber welcomes floats, antique cars, trucks, and implements, horse entries, clowns, politicians, children and families to join in on the fun and participate in the parade. Pre-registration is required for judged entries and encouraged for all entries. Registration is free, and forms are available at the Chamber office or at the Chamber website at www.maryvillechamber.com.

 

First and second place trophies will be awarded for best float by an organization, best float from a commercial entry, and best entry in our open category. There will be a trophy for best antique car, truck, and farm implement.  Trophies will be awarded to participants with horses for best costume, largest group, and most original. The final award, the President’s Choice Trophy, will be presented by Chamber President-Elect, Kaity Holtman.

 

Due to construction, parade staging and parking will be moved to Lot #42 on campus, accessed via Country Club Road.  Non-judged parade participants that have not pre-registered must check in at the registration desk located on College Park Drive near Lot #42 on parade morning. Participants in judged categories must be in place by 8:00 a.m. For liability and safety reasons, roller blades, skates and skateboards are not allowed. All candy and giveaway items must be handed out, not thrown from a moving vehicle. ATVs and motorcycles must remain on all wheels at all times
