KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Authorities say a 32-year-old man has been charged in the stabbing death of his former girlfriend, whose body was found in a wooded area in a park.
Jared M. Witthar of Independence faces second-degree murder and armed criminal action charges in the death of 35-year-old Theresa Christman. The body of the mother of four children was discovered March 20 inside Sheffield Park in Kansas City, Missouri.
It was not clear whether he had an attorney yet.
Prosecutors allege in court documents that Witthar stabbed Christman several times on March 15. Police found a knife at the park and detectives used DNA on its handle to link Witthar. Blood on the blade belonged to Christman.
Traces of her blood were also found inside her car.
