Maryville City Council Notes

During a Special Work Session prior to Wednesday’s City Council meeting, City Manager Greg McDanel presented council with the FY18 Budget for Water/Wastewater & Transient Guest Tax.

Water & Wastewater budget is $6.865 million.  City estimates an 8% increase in revenue due to the new installation of water meters.  Council was recommended no increase to water and solid waste rates for 2018, but will have a likely increase in 2019. The last rate increase for water was in September of 2013 (5%) and sewer rates were last increased in January 2016 (20%).

The transient guest tax has been collected since April 1st.  Revenue through August 31st was nearly $59,000 with an estimated revenue for the year at $99,000.  2018 estimated at $294,000.

Also from Wednesday’s meeting:

–Maryville City Council approved to execute a Supervised Work Release Program Agreement with the Missouri Department of Corrections at the Maryville Treatment Center.  The City will pay each offender worker $7.50 per day throughout the Work Release Program.  This includes ground maintenance.
