Savannah Baby Born With Half A Heart Survives Reconstructive Surgery In Miami

A Savannah baby that was born with half of a heart at St Francis Hospital in Maryville June 28th has survived reconstructive heart surgery by a doctor in Miami, Florida.  Calvin Lemons, son of Sarah Lemons was flown to Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City immediately following his birth in Maryville.  Officials in Kansas City told Lemons’ family there was nothing they could do.  After a search, Dr Redmond Burke at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in Miami was located and they rebuilt the infant’s heart during a 5 hour operation.
