Nodaway County Students Awarded Mizzou Scholarships For 2017-18

The following Nodaway County students have been awarded scholarships from the University of Missouri College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources for the 2017-18 academic year:

Greeley awarded Elyzabeth H. Schell Scholarship from MU College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources

COLUMBIA, Mo. — Erin Greeley of Hopkins, Missouri, has been awarded the Elyzabeth H. Schell Scholarship from the University of Missouri College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources for the 2017-2018 academic year.

Greeley, a junior majoring in animal sciences, is the daughter of Kirby Greeley and Nance Greeley.

The Elyzabeth H. Schell Scholarship was established in 1981 by the estate of Elyzabeth Schell. The Schells were in the dairy business in the Kansas City area and had a strong interest in agriculture. Scholarships are awarded to students whose parents are Missouri landowning farmers or ranchers.

 

Hilsabeck awarded Roger L. and Joyce L. Mitchell Scholarship from MU College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources

COLUMBIA, Mo. — Ty Hilsabeck of Maryville, Missouri, has been awarded the Roger L. and Joyce L. Mitchell Scholarship from the University of Missouri College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources for the 2017-2018 academic year.

Hilsabeck, a senior majoring in animal sciences and agribusiness management, is the son of Vicky Hilsabeck.

The Roger L. and Joyce L. Mitchell Scholarship was established in 1999 upon his retirement by alumni and friends to honor Roger Mitchell’s 15 years as Dean of CAFNR. During this time, Dr. Mitchell was committed to the development of the College scholarship program, which showed steady growth under his leadership.

 

Bliley awarded Carl M. Humphrey Recognition Scholarship and Elsa “Elsie” Kemble Memorial Scholarship from MU College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources

COLUMBIA, Mo. — Kristina Bliley of Conception Junction, Missouri, has been awarded the Carl M. Humphrey Recognition Scholarship and the Elsa “Elsie” Kemble Memorial Scholarship from the University of Missouri College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources for the 2017-2018 academic year.

Bliley, a senior majoring in agricultural education, is the daughter of Charles Bliley and Tammy Bliley.

The Carl M. Humphrey Recognition Scholarship was established in 1979 by friends of Carl Humphrey. Mr. Humphrey was a 1934 graduate of CAFNR and a 1944 graduate of the College of Education. The scholarship was originally established as a loan fund but later converted to a scholarship account to recognize outstanding Agricultural Education students who have demonstrated leadership through FFA participation.

The Elsa “Elsie” Kemble Memorial Scholarship was established in 2008 by her daughter, Inez Kemble Harrill, to provide scholarships to CAFNR undergraduate students in good academic standing.

 

Callow awarded Elyzabeth H. Schell Scholarship from MU College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources

COLUMBIA, Mo. —Zach Callow of Graham, Missouri, has been awarded the Elyzabeth H. Schell Scholarship from the University of Missouri College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources for the 2017-2018 academic year.

Callow, a senior majoring in agribusiness management, is the son of George Callow and Evelyn Callow.

As a result of receiving a prestigious MU Curator Award, which recognizes outstanding high school academic performance, Callow has also received a four year scholar award from CAFNR that is made available through various scholarship accounts.

The Elyzabeth H. Schell Scholarship was established in 1981 by the estate of Elyzabeth Schell. The Schells were in the dairy business in the Kansas City area and had a strong interest in agriculture. Scholarships are awarded to students whose parents are Missouri landowning farmers or ranchers.

 

Shewey awarded Spiese Fund in Agriculture Scholarship from MU College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources

COLUMBIA, Mo. — Alexandria Shewey of Skidmore, Missouri, has been awarded the Spiese Fund in Agriculture Scholarship from the University of Missouri College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources for the 2017-2018 academic year.

Shewey, a freshman, is the daughter of Tracy Shewey and Kenny Shewy, Jr.

The Spiese Fund in Agriculture Scholarship was established in 1988 by the estate of Helen Mae Spiese and provides scholarships for undergraduate students pursuing a course of study in agriculture. Spiese was a 1923 graduate of the College of Education. Preference is given to students from the Bootheel area of Missouri.
