JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) — A top Missouri Republican donor is asking other political givers to push Attorney General Josh Hawley to run for U.S. Senate.
USA Today reports Sam Fox in a Tuesday letter asked other GOP donors to urge Hawley to enter the race. He asked donors not to give money to other candidates to give Hawley time to decide whether to run.
Hawley is a first-time, Republican elected official who took office in January. He has not yet said whether he’ll run for Senate in 2018.
U.S. Rep. Ann Wagner is among other Republicans considering a Senate campaign against incumbent Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill.
