Northwest Missouri State’s Safe Ride Program Receives $1,800 Grant

Northwest Missouri State University’s Safe Ride Home program has received an $1,800 grant from Walmart to support the program.

University Police Chief Clarence Green said the program is appreciative of Walmart’s support, noting Safe Ride transported 2,600 students to the Maryville location between August 2016 and May.

Safe Ride Home is a shuttle bus service that provides safe and timely transportation service within the city limits of Maryville. The service, in coordination with Northwest’s University Police Department, is offered for students, by students.

“Safe Ride Home has had a tremendous impact in providing safe and efficient transportation assistance to our students,” Green said. “As we continue to experience shortfalls in funding and work to keep our campus affordable, these types of partnerships will allow us to sustain our program.”
