Missouri Secretary of State John “Jay” Ashcroft stopped in Maryville Monday to discuss Missouri’s new Voter ID Law that went into effect on June 1st. He says despite some misconceptions with the new law, all registered voters remain eligible to participate. Ashcroft says if you don’t have a government issued ID, the state will pay for you to get one. If you lack an ID when you come to the polling place, you can sign a provisional ballot and if that signature matches the voter registry, your vote will count.
