Today is election day. Two seats are up for placement on the Maryville City Council. Incumbant Rachael Martin is running for re-election. The three others running include Kevin Hawkins, Michael Baumli and Benjamin Lipiec. Councilman Tim Shipley is not running for another term.
Also voters will decide whether to extend the ½ cent Capital Improvement Sales Tax another 20 years. It is scheduled to sunset in June of next year. The CIP tax funds projects such as ashphalt overlay, equipment and public safety.
The Maryville Public Library is asking voters to approve a 12 cent increase to the tax levy of $100 per assessed valuation. The library has not asked for an increase since 1962.
