–Katelyn Castro hat trick for the Savages

–Northwest Quarterback Kyle Zimmerman has been named Sportsman of the Year by the Kansas City Sports Commission. Former Bearcat Athletic Director and MIAA Commissioner Dr Bob Boerighter has been named Executive of the Year. The two will receive their awards on April 26th at the Downtown Kansas City Marriott during the 44th Annual Kansas City Sports Commission Banquet.

–Maryville’s Terry Oglesby has been selected as a standby referee for the Final Four in Glendale, Arizona.

–Fremont-Mills alum Rick Anderson has been selected for the 2017 Class of the Iowa High School Athletic Directors Hall of Fame.  Mills attended Tarkio College and graduated in 1974.

–Iowa State’s Naz Mitrou-Long and Iowa’s Peter Jok have both been selected to participate in the 3-Point Championship Thursday night at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix in conjuction with the Final Four.  It will air live on ESPN starting at 9:00.

–Mizzou’s Sophie Cunningham and Drake’s Lizzy Wendell were both named Honorable Mention All-Americans Monday by the Associated Press.

–Royals named Raul Mondesi, JR as the starting 2B to begin the season.  Jorge Soler has been diagnosed with a strained obilque and may begin the year on the disabled list.
