Area farmers are invited to attend a meeting titled, “Staying in the Farming Business: Reduce Costs, not Income”. The meeting will be held at the Nodaway County Administrative Center in Maryville this Friday at 10 a.m. Regional University of Missouri Extension staff will present the topics. Pre-registration by noon Thursday is required by calling the Nodaway County Extension office at 582-8101. A small participant fee may be charged to cover lunch and expenses.
The meeting will begin discussing the 2017 crop and livestock budgets including break-evens. Next, each of the expenses in budget areas will be examined for potential ways to reduce costs but not reduce revenue.
Different rental arrangements such as flexible cash rents will addressed and different types rental agreement forms will be provided. Following will be a 2017 weather outlook. The meeting will conclude with long-term price projections for different commodities.
Participants will receive a binder of resources which will help them as they plan for 2017. The meeting audience is both for operators and land-lords.
